If you want to become a ServSafe Certified Manager, you’re in the right place. Read to learn what program best fits your needs.

IN PERSON COURSE

1-day class and exam combo from 9 am to 5 pm. The exam is administered at the end of the day. Study materials are emailed once the student registration and payment is complete. ServSafe Manager Book may be shipped or picked up. Certificates are printed free of charge once the student passes the exam. This is the recommended method as the in person course goes into more detail and teaches you what the health inspectors expect from you and your facility.

ONLINE COURSE & EXAM COMBO

The ServSafe online course is approximately 8-10 hours in length. Students may learn & complete the course at their own pace. The online course may be taken in English or Spanish. In order to receive a certificate, the student must also schedule and attend a proctored exam at our location. Certificates are printed free of charge once the student passes the exam.

EXAM ONLY

Proctored exams are administered by a ServSafe proctor or instructor. Exams may be taken without a ServSafe manager class but it is not advised. Exams are administered by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. Certificates are printed free of charge once the student passes the exam.

RENEWAL

The renewal process is similar to the original certification process in that you can choose to take the course in-person, online, or just take the exam. Since the certificates are valid for 5 years our suggestion is to take the in-person class due to how many changes happen within a 5 year span. If you currently have a ServSafe Manager Book you should check to see if it is a current addition. We are currently on the 7th edition.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
 
 

The ServSafe Manager course is designed to teach students the importance of food safety. Once the student completes the course, the exam will be administered. The exam itself is 90 multiple choice questions. The student must receive a 75% or higher on the exam to pass. Students will receive their certificate on the same day as passing the exam.

Students must use a ServSafe Manager book or the student study materials to study by before their class. The class is designed to review the information provided and bring the concepts together through instructor guidance.

If a student does not pass the exam on their first attempt they may schedule a re-take by appointment Monday through Friday (some Saturday’s are available) from 10 am to 4 pm. The exam re-take cost is $75.00.  If the student does not pass on the second attempt they must wait 60 days before trying again. The exam can not be taken more than 4 times in one year.

 
 
 

GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH; RULES AND REGULATIONS: FOOD SERVICE

“Food service establishments shall have in its employ a Certified Food Safety Manager (CFSM) to ensure food safety is being managed by the food service establishment during all hours of operation. At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a certified food safety manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program that conforms to the national standards for organizations that certify individuals. Certified Food Safety Managers must be designated to one food service establishment only and maintain and renew certification in accordance with the requirements of the examination taken.”
